Eine frische Idee, eine vertiefte Kooperation und ein besonderes Angebot sind die Säulen, auf denen die neue Produktion von Janning Trumann aufbaut. Schon seit drei Jahren spielt der Komponist und Bandleader aus Köln unregelmäßig mit dem finnischen Trompeten-Star Verneri Pohjola. Nach ersten Konzerten im Jahr 2015 begeisterte ihre Kombination beim Jazzbaltica-Festival 2016 gleich zweimal Publikum wie Fachwelt. Einige weitere Auftritte fand Trumann, die Zeit sei reif für ein gemeinsames Album. Dazu passte das nach Jazzbaltica eingegangene Angebot des Deutschlandfunks, im Oktober 2017 eine Aufnahme im Kammermusiksaal zu produzieren.
